Tibet Overland Tour with Everest Base Camp (14 Days)

Our 14 days tibet overland tour with Everest Base camp can be start from Kathmandu, is a comprehensive tour of Tibet with visit to Cultutal, historic and natural attraction of the Tibet. Flying to Lhasa from Kathmandu , chengdu or from Beijing, we explore around the Lhasa City visiting Potala Palace, Jokhang temple, Sera Monastry, Drepung Monsatry etc,, visiting Shogatse and Gyantse with a day excursion to Rongbuk Monastery, everest base camp, We will be using 4 WD jeeps for the excursion before corssing friendship bridge to Kathmandu, Nepal.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu.
Day 02-04: Kathmandu
Day 04: Fly to Lhasa.
Day 04 to13: Tibet Tour with Everest Base camp.
Day 14: Departure.

Skeleton Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu.
Arrive Kathmandu. Meet/assist and transfer to Hotel. O.N hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu
AM: Guided visit of Kathmandu City and Swayambhunath.
PM: Guided visit of Patan City.  O.N Hotel.

Day 03: Kathmadu.
AM: Guided visit Pashupatinath and Bodhnath.
PM: Guided visit Bhaktapur. O.N hotel.

Day 04: Kathmandu/Lhasa
Fly from Kathmandu  to Lhasa (3650m).
On arrival at Gongar airport meet by our representative and transfer to hotel in Lhasa. Rest of the day free for rest and acclimatization. Overnight hotel.

Days 05 & 06: Lhasa
Lhasa Sightseeing Tours:
Visit the great Potala Palace the residence of the Dalai Lamas of Tibet; Norbulinka, the Summer Palace; Drepung & Sera, two of the biggest Buddhist monasteries of Tibet; the Jokhang Temple, the holiest shirne in Tibet; and the bustling Barkhor Tibetan Bazaar. Overnight hotel.

Day 07:
Lhasa - Gyantse (3650m / 259 Kms).
Drive to Gyantse passing besides the beautiful Yamdrok Tsho (Turquoise Lake), crossing the Kamba La pass ( 4794m) and Karo La pass ( 5010m). Overnight hotel.

Day 08:
Gyantse - Shigatse (3900 / 90 Kms).
AM: Visit The Khumbhum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery at Gyantse. Embark on a 3 hour drive to Shigatse through Tibetan farmlands and settlements. .
PM: Sight seeing Tour of The Tashilunpo Monastery and the free Tibetan market. Overnight hotel in Shigatse.

Day 09:
Shigatse - Xegar (3900m / 244 Kms).
Drive for approx 8hours over to Xegar. Overnight hotel in Xegar.

Day 10:
Xegar - Rongbuk Monastery (4920m.) - 60 Kms.
Drive over rocky terrain on 4-WD Landcruiser/s to the village of Dza Rongphu. Overnight Rongphu Monsatery.

Day 11:
Full day explore the Everest base camp. O/n Monastery or lodges.

Day 12:
Drive Tingri to Nyalam (3750m.) - 214 Kms.
Drive downhill to Nyalam crossing two spectacular passes - The Lalung La (5082m.) & Nyalamu (3800m.) PASS. Overnight Guest House.

Day 13:
Nyalam - Kathmandu (1200m.) - 150 Kms.
Drive downhill to Zhangmu and to The Friendship Bridge where transportation awaits for the Groups final journey to Kathmandu.

Day 14: Kathmandu/Departure
Free till departure. Departure transfer to airport to connect onward flight.

We had a fantastic trip and I keep remenbering all we have done. Thank you for the organisation which was great. Gruide in Nepal, Guinesh was really good, we learnt a lot and his french is perfect.

The guide in Tibet, Gyatso, was good and very good knowledge on the religious part.

All you need, is to update the driving time in Tibet. Due to the road construction, some driving time are now shorter then idicate on the itinerary. We had have to redone the itinerary some day. Otherwise we will have arrived in some town to early with nothing to do. Also at the Everest camp, 2 nights is too much if you are not doing a trek there. But definitely stop of 1 night expecially if you have blue sky and sun the next morning as we did. The landscape is amazing.

In Nepal, Chitwan was really good and I am glad we did it especially at the end of the tour as it very quiet and we could rest a little after the tiring trip in Tibet. 2 nights will have been better and includ to the itienerary. The Resort was exellent and the guide there was very welcome and nice.

The walk in Nagarkot is superb and Baktapur not to miss. We really like this town, it is quieter then Kathmandu and perfect for the shopping. You can easily spend 1 day there.

Drive all a long was really good.
